Be Well On Campus: 5 Colleges With Strong Wellness Programs
Wellness is an important part of a student’s college experience because it provides time for self-care, growth, and a breather from the academic stressors of campus life. Here are 5 schools with wellness programs that will put the focus back on the student.
- WPI’s Center for Well-Being provides students with an opportunity to take a deep breath away from the busyness of campus. The Center includes a Rest & Reflection Room where students are encouraged to sit for 15-minutes in prayer, mediation, or with such practices as red-light therapy.
- The Wellness Coaching Program at Florida State University encourages students to take care of themselves by learning better sleep habits, managing stress, and experimenting with relaxation techniques.
- The University of Missouri focuses on mental wellbeing through movement in group exercise, meditation during bi-weekly in-person sessions, and motivation by way of a Reclaiming Your Roar class to beat off depression.
- The C3 Program at Arizona State University helps students overcome issues that may get in the way of a successful educational journey as well as impact their future life and career.
- The University of Massachusetts in Amherst has quite a few programs prioritizing health and wellness including “Let’s Talk” which provides students with free Zoom sessions with counselors and the Student Union Craft Center which provides crafting supplies on campus.
