Six Library Reading Challenges and Events to Encourage Your Summer Book Pile
It’s finally summertime at long last and the best way to relax (we think) is kicking back in the sunshine with a good book! Wellesley Books provided a wonderful and diverse summer reading list. Now students can take their reading to the next level with one of the following six summer reading challenges or events offered through public libraries. If your branch is not listed here, contact them to find out more about their summer reading opportunities.
- Summer at the Library – New York Public Library with branches throughout New York City offers a 60-day reading challenge with fun activities in between such as, “make up your favorite poem about a New York park.”
- Summer Reading 2023 – The Boston Public Library and its branches offer events for every interest including a Queer Zine making workshop on June 20th.
- Summer at Your Library 2023 – Orange County Library in Orlando, Florida celebrates those up to age 18 who have completed 300 minutes of reading with a goodie bag.
- Summer With the Library – The Los Angeles Public Library and its branches award a badge for each hour of reading and 15 hours makes students eligible for branch and grand prizes.
- Growing Together – Garland County Library in Arkansas gives you the opportunity to enter a raffle to win prizes for each book you read.
- Summer Reading 2023 – Fulton County Library System in Atlanta allows you to log books to earn badges.
