Summer Programs With Early Deadlines
The United States Senate Youth Program
Interested in government and politics? The deadline is approaching for this spring’s United States Senate Youth Program, in its 62nd year. It runs from March 2nd through 9th, 2024 in Washington, DC. Applications are due on December 1st, 2023. Open to high school juniors and seniors, applicants must hold, or previously held, a leadership role in connection with a constituency (student government, community service, education, public affairs). Delegates are awarded $10,000 as a scholarship for their undergraduate studies. You can find out more information here.
The Research Science Institute
The Research Science Institute 6-week summer program is a highly selective program drawing applicants from around the world. 3,000 applicants apply each year, but only 80 are selected to participate. Applicants must be about to enter their senior year of high school, hold a PSAT Math Score of 740+ and an Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Score of 700+, and have a strong background in science and mathematics. Lower scores may be offset by robust science activities, grades, and strong teacher recommendations. The deadline to apply is December 13th, 2023. You can learn more about the program, and requirements, and apply here.
Telluride Association Summer Seminar
Applications for Telluride’s free six-week summer program are now open for high school sophomores and juniors. The organization was founded in 1911. Today, students apply to one of two programs, anti-oppressive studies or critical black studies. The goal is to promote critical thinking and an understanding of what it means to participate in a democracy. Applications are due January 3, 2024. To learn more click here.
